Clean Room Booths

In aerospace, defence and precision assembly, the airborne particle count is part of the product acceptance criteria. A clean room is a controlled volume that keeps this count below a defined limit.

How the process works

Clean air is supplied through HEPA filters at the ceiling and descends in a unidirectional flow. This flow carries particles generated inside away from the operator and the part. The uniformity of the flow can be more critical than filter efficiency.

The room is held at positive pressure relative to its surroundings; when a door opens, air flows outwards and dirty air cannot enter. Where there is more than one cleanliness class, a pressure cascade is established between them.

The largest source of particles is usually not equipment but people. The airlock, gowning regime and behavioural rules are an inseparable part of the design.
