Requirements that differ by sector
In paint shop projects the word “reference” means more than having built a similar plant before. Every sector has its own specification language, acceptance criteria and form of inspection.
- Automotive and its supply industry — compliance with OEM specifications, coating thickness and corrosion resistance testing, guaranteed cycle time in high-volume series production
- Defence industry — special coating systems, traceability and record-keeping requirements
- Rail systems — large-bodied parts, long booths and the handling solutions they require
- Aerospace — recording of process parameters and integration with non-destructive testing lines
- Home appliances and general industry — high volumes, short cycles, colour-change flexibility
What to look for in a reference project
Useful questions when evaluating a quotation: did the line meet its target cycle time, how long did commissioning take, which settings were revised during the first year, how well did spare parts and service access work.
These questions reveal how the plant behaves in the field rather than its capacity on paper.
